Every week, Chef Jim Coleman invites you into his kitchen for great conversations with nationally-known chefs and food experts. Together, they cook up mouthwatering recipes and explain cuisines and techniques. Chef Coleman takes you on culinary adventures across the country - he'll visit fine restaurants as well as hidden roadside cafes and diners. The program also offers sound nutritional advice, cookbook reviews, and the latest trends in the world of food.

A Prairie Home Companion

A Prairie Home Companion is a variety show broadcast live from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota and other locations in the U.S. and around the world. The show offers a quirky blend of comedy sketches, topical subjects and music. At the heart of the show is host Garrison Keillor's humor-writing talent and unrivaled ear for great radio. He's the creator of hilarious skits like the weekly adventures of "Guy Noir, Radio Private Eye" and "The Catchup Advisory Board," and of course the stories from "the town that time forgot and the decades cannot improve" in Keillor's signature monologue, "The News from Lake Wobegon."

It offers in-depth analysis, informed commentary and an exploration of new approaches to our most challenging problems. Its aim is to open minds and inspire new possibilities.

Acoustic Café

Acoustic Café showcases new and classic acoustic music, airing recordings from some of the best singer-songwriters in the business, plus live in-studio interviews and performances. It's hard to put a definitive label on Acoustic Café's music selections. After all, a good song is a good song … any individual set of music could contain a bit of country, rock, blues, folk, pop … and more! The program is produced and hosted by Rob Reinhart.

Since its debut in 1971, this afternoon radio newsmagazine has delivered in-depth reporting and transformed the way listeners understand current events and view the world. Every weekday, hosts Melissa Block, Michele Norris, and Robert Siegel present breaking news mixed with compelling analysis, insightful commentaries, interviews, and special -- sometimes quirky -- features. Guy Raz hosts a one-hour edition of the program on Saturday and Sunday.

Alternative Radio

Alternative Radio is a weekly one-hour public affairs series that features diverse perspectives on national and international issues. Alternative Radio challenges conventional views and is dedicated to the founding principles of public broadcasting: "to serve as a forum for controversy and debate" and "provide a voice for groups that may otherwise be unheard." Programs feature Helen Caldicott, Noam Chomsky, Barbara Ehrenreich, Ralph Nader, Michael Parenti, Edward Said, Cornel West, and many others.

American Routes

American Routes is a two-hour weekly excursion into American music, spanning eras and genres -- roots rock and soul, blues and country, jazz, gospel and beyond. From moody streets and muddy waters to purple mountains and the open range, America has produced an incredibly wide body of music, and host Nick Spitzer samples it all. He takes listeners on exciting musical journeys from the known to the unknown and back again, visiting sites with familiar sounds but also making side trips to the places where Cajun, klezmer, and Téjano flourish.

Author! Author!

Author! Author! is a weekly one-hour author interview program that uses non-fiction books as a vehicle to explore a wide range of humanities disciplines such as art, history, film, music, theater, ethnic studies, woman's studies, religion, law, literature, philosophy, and social science. The program focuses on one book, one author, for one hour. Author! Author!'s host, Joel Martin presents many significant thought-provoking themes that are incorporated into a lively exchange with the author, whose personal journey into the scholarship of the work is also discussed.

KEDM's Andy Isca -- himself a retired music educator, conductor, composer, and arranger -- plays music from wind bands -- performing ensembles consisting of several members of the woodwind instrument family, brass instrument family and percussion instrument family. Dr. Isca has earned numerous honors and is a Laureate in the Legion of Honor of The John Philip Sousa Foundation and for three years was associate conductor of the American Winds Concert Band and while holding that position conducted in eleven different European countries.

Kelby Ouchley, former manager of the Upper Ouachita National Wildlife Refuge, provides expert insight into the flora and fauna of Louisiana. Archived editions of Bayou Diversity are available in our Listening Room.
