Bye Bye Birdie combines comedy and love to tell a heartwarming tale.

The ULM Visual and Performing Arts Department is presenting Bye Bye Birdie! March 22-25 in the Brown Auditorium. The show features the comedy, confusion, and love that comes from rock star "Conrad Birdie" being drafted in the army.

The show follows struggling songwriter Albert Peterson and his longtime girlfriend, Rosie, as they work out how to get out of debt after rock star Conrad Birdie is drafted in the army. "Albert is a bit of a mama's boy, and his love interest Rosie doesn't like that," says Gray Hall, one of the two actors playing Albert Peterson.

For productions like Bye Bye Birdie!, the cast prepares for ten weeks straight. This includes music rehearsals, staging, costuming, and long dress rehearsals. "Ten weeks is the charm, and it seems to work well here," says Director Robin Stephens, " I think we're ready for an audience."

Tickets to Bye Bye Birdie! are available for $15 in the VAPA Office, located in Biedenharn Hall, or here. The KEDM Director's Gala tickets are available for $45 here.
