ULM Opera Presents: Candide

Candide

University of Louisiana Monroe is hosting Candide November 1 - 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Brown Auditorium. The final show will be November 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for the general public and free for ULM students.

The 1956 opera Candide is famous for its overture and songs such as "Glitter and Be Gay" and "Make Our Garden Grow". The opera is based on Voltaire's 1758 novel of the same name, Candide tells the story of the young man who learns the truth about existence through a bizarre sequence of fantastic events that take him from Europe to the New World and back.

The show is directed by Mark Clark and conducted by Deborah Chandler. Gray Hall, Mattew Stewart, Alysa Foster, and Leah Huber are actors in the show, along with several others.

Next spring, ULM Visual and Performing Arts is presenting The Phantom of the Opera.
