Two Monroe Residents Killed in Winn Parish Crash

Winn Parish – Yesterday evening, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man and a woman from Monroe, LA. Both were wearing a seat belt.

Troopers responded to the crash around 7:35 p.m., which occurred on US Hwy 84, near Gum Springs Road. The crash involved a 2011 Nissan pickup, driven by Vincent Trotter (B/M 61 yrs) and a 2013 Ford pickup, driven by Bobby Ray McLarty (W/M 41 yrs) of Winnfield, LA. The Nissan was westbound on US Hwy 84 when Trotter lost control and crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane. This action resulted in the Nissan colliding with the eastbound Ford.

Trotter was pronounced dead. His only passenger, identified as Wanda Yvonne Jenson (B/F 52 yrs), was pronounced dead.

McLarty was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.

In 2018, Troop E has investigated 30 fatal crashes resulting in 31 deaths.
