Caroline Youngblood's "Louisiana Magnolia: Southern Enlightment"

The Downtown Gallery Crawl will continue celebrating its 10th anniversary Thursday, December 7, with its December Gallery Crawl. The Crawl will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. across Downtown Monroe and West Monroe.

This month's Crawl will include nine galleries, all with different exhibits for crawlers to enjoy, and possibly snag some last minute Christmas gifts. There will also be local food and live music throughout the different galleries. Castor and Chickory will have its fresh beignets and hot chocolate outside of the Garrett House, and free treats will be provided by Sweet P. Sweets at the Sugar Gallery.

Different art pieces such as paintings, photographs, jewelry, and mixed media art will be on display or for sale at the galleries. The Garrett House will have a photo and video exhibit on Northeast Louisiana Blues Music, Sugar Gallery will have jewelry for sale by artist Lisa Harp, and The Big Room Gallery will be doing an open studio to display artists in progress throughout the night. There will also be colorful figurative paintings by artist Rachel Barnes at Rumo's Gallery, abstract works by Joey Slaughter at the Arender Studio, and a Gifts Show at the Palace Gallery curated by Jarod Strokes.

This Crawl will be festive, filled with the usual spirit of creativity and the spirit of the holidays as well. More information on this month's crawl can be found here.
