Ouachita Parish – On August 1, 2018 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian on US Hwy 165 at the intersection of Ticheli Road in south Monroe.

The preliminary investigation revealed 59-year-old Emma Crew of West Monroe was attempting to cross US Hwy 165. At the same time 33-year-old Krystal Collins of Richwood was driving a 2018 Chrysler 300 southbound on US Hwy 165. Crew crossed US Hwy 165 directly in the path of the Chrysler and was struck by the driver’s side mirror. After being struck, Crew fell into the southbound travel lane where she was struck again by what witnesses say was a white pickup truck.

Crew was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the white pickup truck did not stop and continued southbound on US 165. A toxicology sample was obtained from Crew and will be submitted for analysis. Collins stopped at the scene, and impairment on her part was not a factor.

This crash remains under investigation, and if you have any information that may help Troopers in their investigation please call Troop F at 318-345-0000.

In 2018, Troop F has investigated 21 fatal crashes resulting in 25 deaths.
