Party Of The Year At The KEDM Director's Gala

The Director’s Gala is Saturday, March 24 at 5 p.m. at the University of Louisiana Monroe, just before the Saturday performance of Bye Bye Birdie. Call 318-342-5556 for tickets or click here.

The evening begins outside Brown Auditorium in the ULM Sculpture Garden where guests will enjoy signature delicacies and dishes from the area’s best restaurants, caterers and friends of KEDM. Marsala Beverage Company, Choice Brands, Southern Beverage Company, and Fiesta Nutrition Center feature a wide selection of wine and beer including craft beers. The party also features live music and includes a special appearance made by "Conrad Birdie" himself!

Guests of the Gala enjoy VIP seating and early admission to Brown Auditorium for Saturday’s performance ofBye Bye BirdieThis Tony Award-winning musical features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Lee Adams, and book by Michael Stewart.

Bye Bye Birdie tells the comical and entertaining story of a young rock-and-roll star, Conrad Birdie, who suddenly gets drafted into the US army.  When one last kiss is given to a lucky girl in the crowd of his final performance, it wreaks havoc on a group of teenagers in a small town in Ohio.  Directed and choreographed by Robin Stevens and musically prepared and conducted by Deborah Chandler, this age-old story of teens moving awkwardly toward independence is bound to captivate an audience of all ages.

The Galasupports and highlights students and faculty from ULM’s School of Visual and Performing Arts”, says Lila Strode, KEDM development director and event chair. “It strengthens relationships within our community and creates more ways for the public to enjoy ULM’s campus.”
