Greyhound is looking for a new place to house a bus terminal. The bus service currently is located on Desiard Street at Hwy 165 in Monroe. Mayor Jamie Mayo says the City of Monroe has been working to add Greyhound bus services to the Monroe Regional Airport and become a multi-mode terminal facility.
"We are asking for the council's help and are very excited by this," says Mayo.
Monroe Regional Airport Director, Ron Phillips says,"This is a win-win opportunity for the city, the airport and Greyhound. " Phillips says it will increase the airports revenue bring more people to the airport restaurant and bar.
Mayor Mayo says the airport is the perfect place for bus service because it has taxis, Uber and Lyft, air transport and city bus service.
The proposal call for the city to lease space to Greyhound for $25,000 per year. The proposal will be heard Tuesday council meeting.
