A Louisiana man faces life in prison for killing his former girlfriend's teenage brother and shooting the woman and her mother at their home on Bayou Blue.

Seventeen-year-old David Trahan Jr. died almost instantly on Oct. 25, 2016. The Courier reports that both women survived, and testified against Rhubin Scott Jr.

Jurors also heard voicemail messages that Scott left, yelling and cursing at his ex-girlfriend and threatening to hurt or even kill her.

A Terrebonne Parish jury took little more than an hour Thursday to convict him of second-degree murder, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

District Judge Juan Pickett scheduled formal sentencing Dec. 20.
