A Dubach man died yesterday after the vehicle he was driving traveled into the opposing lane of traffic and struck another vehicle head-on.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 146 just east of LA 563. The initial investigation by State Police revealed 45-year-old Michael Williams of Dubach was driving a 1992 GMC Sierra west on LA 146. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC traveled into the eastbound lane of LA 146 and struck a 2010 Dodge Ram, driven by 58-year-old Milton Murphy of Ruston.

Williams, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner’s Office. Murphy, who was also restrained, was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

In 2018, Troop F has investigated 10 fatal crashes resulting in 12 deaths.
