CenturyLink Provides Technology For Super Bowl Fans And Broadcast

CenturyLink
CenturyLink Corporate Headquarters in Monroe, Louisiana

Monroe-based CenturyLink is being relied upon to keep the lights on, and the broadcast rolling for this year’s Super Bowl. U.S. Bank Stadium is a new stadium built from the ground up with state-of-the-art technology, mostly by CenturyLink.

Director of Smart Solutions Jesse Sullivan says CenturyLink started working 3 years ago with the NFL to get ready for the big game.

CenturyLink is responsible for most of the technology infrastructure needs in the stadium.

"We have deployed 1400 wireless access points in the venue." Sullivan says, "72,000 fans can have wireless devices on the network at the stadium."

CenturyLink will handle all of the major network video streams coming out of the stadium, as well as the massive data load of 72,000 fans sending snaps, Facebook videos, and Instagram selfies.

Sullivan says the raw amount of data usage is staggering. He expects 7 to 10 terabytes of traffic will be transferred through the stadium network during the game.

Tech giant CenturyLink employs 2,700 Louisianans, with a payroll over 200- million dollars a year.
