Lincoln Parish Emergeny Alerts---Ammonia Pipeline leak in the vinicity of 2629 La. Hwy.

The evacuation took place in Ruston, La. on Sunday, September 17, 2018. It happened on Hwy. 822 near Hwy. 33 in Lincoln parish after an ammonia pipeline began to leak. The Lincoln Parish police department evacuated residents within the immediate area and asked residents withing one mile to shelter in place.

Pipeline companies are currently working to shut down the leakage. There is still road closure on Hwy. 822, but some residents have been allowed back into they homes. Ammonia piplines are used to transport Ammonia used in fertilizer, plastics, and chemicals. They are considered safer than ammonia by rail or truck.
