The sculptures will be placed around the zoo so that visitors can interact with them throughout their visit.

Saturday May 20th, the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo will be having an unveiling of their new interactive animal sculptures donated by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. The dedication will begin at 2:00 p.m.

As part of Alpha Kappa Alpha's 1908 program Playground Mobilization, the sorority is donating six interactive animal sculptures to the zoo; these sculptures will include a jaguar, a zebra, a crocodile, a snake, a Komodo dragon, and a turtle. The Playground Mobilization program was designed to give kids a safe place to play and be outdoors, along with beautifying the local community.

These sculptures are just some of the upcoming additions to the zoo. Joe Clawson, director of the zoo, shares that the zoo is expecting some exciting new animal additions this summer. Also coming up this summer is the zoo's family fun day, Zoobilation.

More information on the sculpture dedication and what is coming up at the zoo can be found here.
