On Wednesday, the Board of Regents for the state of Louisiana handed down decisions on more than 400 underperforming programs at Louisiana colleges and universities, including 24 programs at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
The Board’s periodic review of program offerings looked at programs identified as struggling to graduate students. Some programs will be combined, or consolidated with other similar degrees; some will be granted a probation period, while others will be eliminated.
Associate Provost for Academic Affairs Dr. Eric Pani talks about how the Regents’ decisions affect ULM.

Offices of university relations rarely get the spotlight. The staff who are responsible for how an institution communicates with the public are often focused on the business of communicating. That important work, though, affects how the public views an institution.
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education is a nonprofit association of educational institutions, serving professionals in alumni relations, communications, and marketing and development.
Three professionals at the University of Louisiana at Monroe were honored recently for excellence in writing. Two of them talked with us about their awards: Laura Woodard is the director of media relations and Keli Jacobi is a senior public relations representative in the office of media relations.
