Safety for crews at retired military bases | ULM Forum 3-2-12

After the U.S. Military moves from a property, environmental hazards can be left behind. One researcher at the University of Louisiana at Monroe works to ensure the safety of clean-up crews.

Meyer

Dr. Sharon Meyer was recently awarded a $65-thousand dollar grant to continue her work with the Department of Defense U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The grant funds research into the health effects of chemicals on personnel cleaning up military sites.

This new funding allows Meyer to continue a 10-year collaboration with researchers of Waterways Experimental Station, a facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg.
