Small and family-owned businesses often struggle to make ends meet. Safety for workers can be limited to common- sense knowledge of the business, rather than formal training.

Baer Herrock

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Department of Toxicology is working on a program that teaches health, safety and toxicology in the workplace, geared specifically to industries in the area.

The new certificate will provide those with a college degree the chance to get common OSHA certifications as well as further in-depth training suited for businesses in north Louisiana and south Arkansas.

Chair of the Department of Toxicology Dr. Kevin Baer and industrial hygienist John Herrock, M.S. explain how the certificate can help companies improve workplace safety.
